Winter trail conditions January 19-2026

Highway 38 is currently open during the weekends only, allowing access to trailheads at Forsee Creek and South Fork.

Current snow conditions - Snow level is at about 9000 feet. above that level the trails are icy like a skating rink. The temperatures melt the snow during the day and freeze at night. making the ice think and dangerous. This is not the time for casual winter travel or first snow experiences. you should have helmet, ice axe (and know how to use it) full crampons.

Know your limits, plan conservatively, and be willing to turn around. San Gorgonio will be there another day.
