Trail & Permit Update – September 28 Flooding

On September 28, flash flooding caused significant damage in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. As a result, Highway 38 and Valley of the Falls Road are closed, blocking access to the Vivian Creek and Momyer trailheads.

Because of these closures and potential trail damage, all wilderness permits are suspended until further notice. At this time, we do not know how long repairs and closures will last.

We will post updates here as soon as more information becomes available from Caltrans and the Forest Service. In the meantime, please plan accordingly and do not attempt to access closed areas.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as crews work to restore safe access.
