Serving in partnership
with the United States Forest Service
Who Are We?
The San Gorgonio Wilderness Association is a non-profit
group dedicated to protecting the San Bernardino National Forest (Southern California),
including the San Gorgonio Wilderness (click here for vicinity
map), and to serving the public visiting the forest. These services are provided through
the generous donation of time by nearly 120 volunteers and
contribution of funds by individuals who enjoy our
National Forest and Wilderness areas and wish to help protect these precious resources for
use by themselves and future generations. Contributions are used for patrol, program, and
maintenance supplies; training of volunteers; and administration costs including postage,
printing, and insurance.
With ever decreasing Forest Service funds and personnel, it
has become more essential for SGWA volunteers to continue providing the following
services:
- Lead nature walks and programs.
- Completely staff and manage the Barton
Flats Visitor Center.
- Patrol trails throughout the forest and wilderness to assist
visitors, clean up litter and illegal fire rings, and call in emergency medical care.
- Construct and maintain trails throughout the forest.
How can I help the San Gorgonio
Wilderness Association?
There are several ways you can help
the San Gorgonio Wilderness Association. How can you help?
1. By becoming a volunteer
Ranger.
Important
note: The Volunteer Program is best suited to local California residents as
neither the San Gorgonio Wilderness Association or the United States Forest Service offer
room and board or stipends for volunteers in the program. Additionally, volunteers will
need transportation to commute between their residence and the place of volunteer duty.
2. By becoming a
contributing member and making a much needed and tax-deductible donation. Any contribution is appreciated and will help us
continue our valuable work.
3. By
making payroll deductions through Earth Share of California – the world’s leading environmental
and conservation charities working together.
Through Earth Share you can make a payroll deduction donation that
helps to preserve and protect the environment – locally, regionally,
nationally, and globally. And you can choose to help specific
organizations such as the SGWA.
Earth Share not part of your employer’s workplace giving campaign?
The SGWA would like to help you with that. Call Ted Schofield at
909-862-1089 or send an e-mail to him at flyer1955@aol.com.
4.
Make all your online purchases through GreaterGood.com.
Be sure to come to the SGWA site first, and click through our links. Up to
fifteen percent of your purchases are donated to the SGWA simply by clicking
through, and at NO additional cost or effort to you. It's no different than
shopping online like you normally would. Click the advertisement below to
get started!
No matter the method of
giving you choose, the San Gorgonio Wilderness Association values your
effort and greatly thanks you for your support. Together we can help
preserve and protect the San Gorgonio Wilderness for generations to come.
