This is a portion of the wreckage from a military DC-3 that crashed in the San Gorgonio Wilderness in 1952 and is visible along the Sky High Trail. The wreckage is mentioned in the narrative on "Trip 42" of John Robinson's book, "San Bernardino Mountain Trails". More details of the crash can also be found here.
